A  62-year-old Zimmerman man, believed to be having a medical emergency, crashed into the Elk River KFC Friday morning.

The motorist had been southbound on Dodge Street when he lost control of the car, went across the businesses’ vacant parking lot and crashed into the building. He entered the front doors to the business and came to rest before reaching the service counter.

The owner of the store said she was not sure if the business would be able to re-open on Friday.

The motorist was transported to an area hospital by ambulance.

The business was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
