Pancake breakfast to raise funds for fireworks
The Elk River American Legion is hosting a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, June 5, to raise money for Elk River’s July 4th fireworks show.
The amount of money raised will determine whether this year’s Independence Day program and fireworks display will live up to last year’s event.
A citizen-led committee is seeking donations from citizens, businesses, government and community organizations to make the show possible. The business community’s response to a recent mailer has been garnering donations ranging from $20 and $40 to $200 and $250 so far.
Members of the American Legion will run the kitchen and volunteers from the Elk River Independence Day Committee, DECA at Elk River High School and local scouts have been tapped to assist.
The Dodge Street Bandits and an alumni Elk River High School Band forming for the event will play at the celebration. The band will be directed by John Rosner, Several food vendors are being lined up.
