Elk River boys golf captured its sixth straight conference crown on Thursday but this one is shared, with the Anoka Tornadoes.

A very tight three-team race wound up with Anoka and the Elks tied with 50 points each and Osseo right behind with 48.5.

In the fifth and final 11-team conference meet at Bunker Hills, Anoka won with 303., while the Elks had 307, and Osseo tied for third with 320. David Flavin of Anoka was medalist with 69.

Elk senior Chase Hahne shot 73 Thursday and finished as the conference season leader with a 36 average per nine holes.

Chase Hahne made all-conference for the fifth time and was season low scorer for the second time.

Hahne was joined on the all-conference team by three teammates, senior John Butler, junior Alex Kline and eighth-grader Garrett Turnacliff. The top 20 make all-conference.

“I’m very happy with how it turned out,” said Elk coach Dave Conley. “Anoka has more players with experience than we do. This was good for us.”

Heading into the meet, Osseo and Elk River had 40 points each and Anoka 39.

Butler shot 74, Turnacliff 78, Sawyer Springman 82, Kline 83 and Mitch Nelson 86 for the Elks.

Hahne has been involved in all six conference titles in this streak, five of them as an all-conference shooter. He was also No. 1 in the conference as a sophomore.

“We struggled a bit this year, and that’s the first time in the six years I’ve had Chase,” said Conley, referring to this year’s team that’s three deep with strong golfers and searching for a consistent No. 4.

Next for the Elks is the Section 7AAA meet, which will b e 27 holes on Tuesday at Bunker Hills. The Elks are defending champions.
