Baseball: Princeton halts Thunder win streak 8-6
Zimmerman’s six game winning streak was snapped in their conference finale on Thursday as the Thunder lost to Princeton 8-6 at home.
The Thunder finished their final Mississippi 8 season with a 7-9 record in conference, and will take a 10-9 overall record into playoffs.
Kyle Connelly took the loss, giving up eight runs (five earned) in 4 1/3 innings.
Brandon Giese led off the game with a homer for Zimmerman and had a good relief pitching stint, striking out four batters in 1 2/3 scoreless innings.
Christian Korlath also homered, a two-run shot.
Zach Ludwig pitched the distance for Princeton, which finished 6-10 in conference.
The Thunder are seeded No. 2 in their sub-section and will host Rockford on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The winner plays Wednesday in Delano at 2:30 p.m. The first two rounds are single-elimination.
