Baseball: Elks lose to Centennial, Champlin, finish conference 7-3

Elk River lost to Centennial 6-1 in the final regular season game for both teams on Tuesday.

The Elks finished the regular season 7-13, all of them conference games, tying for eighth place among 11 teams. Section 7AAA playoffs start Tuesday, June 1.

Austin Malinowski struck out nine infive innings, allowing one run (one earned), and just one hit getting the win for the Cougars (12-8). Steve Piette pitched two innings of relief.

Centennial had ten hits. Sam Alt was 2-for-4 with a HR and two RBI. Alex Marolt was 2-for-4.

Tucker Morrell took loss for the Elks, pitching three innings, and allowing five runs (four earned). Terry Hadden threw four innings, allowed one run, and had three strike outs.

Both Hadden and Morrell went 1-for-2 for Elk River .


Elks lost to Champlin on Monday


Champlin Park beat the Elks 10-3 on Monday in Champlin.

Brandon Meyer got the loss, pitching three innings, and allowing eight runs (six earned). Aaron Pipenhagen pitched three innings, allowing two runs (two earned), and struck out four.

Sam Krick was 1-for-2 with a double and a run. Porter Morrell had a two-run single.

Garrett Harisson pitched two innings and struck out five getting the win for the Rebels (8-11). Alex Smith threw two innings and Tyler Bolland threw three innings allowing three runs (three earned).

Spencer Robinson was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs, and an RBI. Eric Weekley was 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI, and two runs.
