Christian Korlath came within one out of a five-inning perfect game as the Zimmerman Thunder beat Maranatha Acadamy 10-0 at home Tuesday.
Korlath had two outs in the fifth with the game about to end via the 10-run rule when he walked one batter, then gave up a single, before notching the third out. He got credit for a one-hitter, striking out one.
Kyle Connelly was 3-for-3 and knocked in four runs, while Matt Milless was 2-for-3 with two RBI, Blake Ehley 2-for-2, and Evan Bye walked three times and scored twice.
The Thunder have won five straight, and eight of their last 10, and pushed over .500 at 9-8. They will host Rockford on Tuesday and will close conference play at Princeton on Thursday.
