On May 4, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested a 59-year-old man suspected of selling cocaine.
John Joseph Daugherty of Elk River is currently in custody at the Hennepin County Jail.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has charged Daugherty with the following felonies:
•Controlled Substance Crime, Second Degree- Sale
•Controlled Substance Crime, Third Degree- Possession
Based on information received by law enforcement, the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit began an investigation. Investigators determined that Daugherty was selling cocaine and deputies arrested him.
Daugherty works at Osseo Junior High School in a non-teaching position.
“Because this suspect works at a school, there was added urgency to investigate this case quickly and thoroughly,” said Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek.
At this point of the investigation, there is nothing to indicate that any students or anyone else in the school community was involved in this case. The case continues to be actively investigated. Anyone with information should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 1-888-988-TIPS.
