Track: Rogers girls 6th, boys 9th in Miss. 8 meet

Four second-place finishes were top performances by Rogers at the Mississippi 8 track meet Tuesday as the Royal girls tied for sixth place and the boys were last among nine schools.

Kristen Heikkenen was second in the 100 dash (13.36) and anchored the second-place 4-by-100 relay (52.99) that also included Amanda Palmer, Brea Wade and Danielle Perogo.

Madeline Schaffer was second in the 300 hurdles (47.32).

Chase Cleveland took second in the boys 400 dash (51.14) and fourth in the 200 (23.66).

Other Royal girls scoring points were Kendra Burr, fifth in discus (94-1); Sarah Kornovich, sixth in pole vault (8-0); and Aundria Speidel, eighth in 100 hurdles (22.14). Speidel had 16.87 in the prelins but tripped in the finals.

Other Royal boys scoring were Charlie Hines,  fourth in shot put (46-7 1/2);  Ken Kalk, fourth in triple jump (41-1); Caleb LeClair was fourth in the 3200 (10:06.39); Niico Salas Velazquez, sixth in pole vault (11-0); Brad Arrington, sixth in triple jump (40-6 1/2); Dan Schuler, eighth in the 3200 (10:28.53); and Kent Hoover, eighth in the 400 (53.73).

In the 4-by-400, the Rogers boys, Cleveland, Kent Hoover, TJ Scott and Trevor Berkley, placed third (3:33.37). The 4-by-100 team, Isaac Aanerud, Cyrus Biah, Velazquez, and Keith Woods, placed fourth (1:38.36).
