Softball: Elks lose NWSC finale to Park Center 10-4
Nicola Tade pitched a four-hitter and conference co-champion Park Center scored five runs in the fifth, on the way to a 9-1 victory over Elk River in the regular-season finale Wednesday.
The Pirates (16-3 overall) finished 13-2 in the NWSC, tying Centennial for the title.
The Elks finished 12-5 for fourth place and will take a 14-6 overall record into sectionals starting May 25.
Tade struck out seven and walked one.
Jaden Fischer blasted a three-run home run in the big fifth inning by Park Center. Tade was 2-for-2 with a run and RBI. Megan VanHulzen was 3-for-5 with a double, two runs, and an RBI.
Moriah Bruns took the loss for the Elks, throwing 4 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs (seven earned), and striking out three. Courtney Jensen pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing one run.
Kayti Hanson was 2-for-3 with a double, run, and a stolen base.
