Baseball: Thunder back to .500 after 10-4 win over Rogers

Austin Koch slammed a three-run homer and a triple as the Zimmerman Thunder continued their recent surge with a 10-4 win over the Rogers Royals at home Wednesday.

Koch’s homer just inside the left-field flag tied the score 3-3 in the second. He later had a leadoff triple and scored.

Kyle Connelly pitched the distance, giving up three runs in the first  but only one more run after that. He allowed six hits. Connelly also went 2-for-4 with a double.

Blake Ehley was 3-for-3 for the Thunder.

Bjorn Bloom hit a two-run homer for Rogers in the first inning. Mark Stemmler had an RBI single. Sophomore Zach Grauf took the loss, giving up six runs in four-plus innings. Larry Haux and Stemler finished.

The Thunder have won seven of their last nine, improving to 8-8 overall and 7-8 in conference. Rogers drops to 3-10 and 3-11.

Rogers will host Cambridge-Isanti on Thursday. Zimmerman will host Maranatha Christian on Friday
