Baseball: Krick drives home 5, Elks beat Pirates 8-2

Sam Krick drove home five runs with three timely hits as Elk River thumped Park Center 8-2 at home Wednesday.

Krick, a junior outfielder, had RBI’s with a single in the first and a double in the second, then slammed a bases-loaded double off the right-center field fence in the sixth.

The sacks were loaded for Krick after Brandon Meyer tripled to deep center and the next two batters walked.

Terry Hadden pitched the distance for the victory, giving up a two-run double to Austin Becker in the sixth but nothing more. Hadden also hit a double in the fourth and scored on Porter Morrell’s single.

The Elks (7-11) will host Centennial on Saturday at 11 a.m.
