Kayti Hanson’s two-run double was the key hit as Elk River scored four runs in the top of the seventh and beat Anoka 4-3 on Monday.
Singles by Kathy Opsdahl and Jenna Germscheid started ther ally. Ali Krohn bunted and beat it out to load the bases. Kaitlyn Roche walked, forcing home a run. Hanson’s two-bagger put the tally at three, and Roche scored when Bethani Athey grounded out.
Moriah Bruns pitched the distance, allowing four hits, three walks, and one earned run, striking out five.
Hailee Gifford pitched six shutout innings for Anoka but didn’t get anyone out in the seventh. She gave up 11 hits and three walks. Kassie Green got the last three outs.
Germscheid was 3-for-3, Opsahl 2-for-3, Athey 2-for-3, and Roche 1-for-2 with an RBI. Hanson was 1-for-4.
The Elks are 11-4 in conference, in fourth place, two games behind Centennial and Park Center, both 11-2. They will close the regular season hosting Park Center on Wednesday 4:15 p.m.
