Elk River scored six runs in the third inning on the way to an 11-4 win over Anoka on Monday at Elk River.
Porter Morrell had a two-run single during the big third inning when the Elks (6-11) had five of their 11 hits.
Freshman Brandon Meyer got the win, tossing 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs (two earned), and striking out two. Tucker Morrell pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing one run, and had one strikeout.
Terry Hadden and Porter Morrell were both 2-for-2 and Hadden had a double, two runs, and two RBI. Matt Williams was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.
The Elks committed five errors in the win.
“We played with energy and enthusiasm and had some fun,” said head coach Barry Hohlen.
Anoka’s Jared Holm took the loss, giving up four runs in two innings. Ryan Rumpca threw three innings and allowed five runs (three earned).
Ryan Rumpca was 2-for-3 with three RBI and Austin Parent was 2-for-2 with a run for Anoka (3-12).
