With a shaky defensive performance, the Elk River softball team saw its six-game win streak end with a 10-3 loss to Coon Rapids at home on Wednesday.
The Elks made seven errors leading to five unearned runs as Moriah Bruns gave up 11 hits.
The Elks had six hits and 10 strikeouts off Cardinal pitcher Katie Fredrickson and left nine runners on base.
Kaitlyn Roche was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI for the Elks. Michaela Bruns was 2-for-4 and Bethani Athey was hit-by-pitch three times along with a single and RBI.
Top hitters for Coon Rapids were Ashlyn Finton 2-4 (two runs), Karleigh Williams 2-2 (two runs, double, RBI) and Stephanie Best 2-4 (double, RBI.
The Elks (12-5 overall) dropped to 10-4 in conference and the Cardinals moved ahead of them at 9-3. Centennial and Park Center have two losses each.
The Elks host Armstrong on Thursday.
