Golf: Royal boys win Miss. 8 meet, Thunder 6th

The Rogers Royals won their fifth straight Mississippi 8 meet Wednesday, edging St. Michael-Albertville 305 to 307 at Purple Hawk in Cambridge.

 

McCabe Buege, currently the top-ranked golfer in the state, led all shooters with 71, with four birdies and three bogies. STMA’s Nathan Richards and Rogers’ Corey Muenzhuber were next with 75′s.

 

On a rain-soaked course, the players had to play lift-clean-place.

 

For sixth-place Zimmerman, Corey Foyt shot 79, Tommy Hannan 81, Brian Barbel 83, and Derek Faulkner 88.

 

Rogers’ other counting scores were 79 by Andy Suedbeck and  80 by Morgan Rask.

 

The conference meets remain.
