Softball: Elks thump Blaine 13-3 for 6th in row


Kaitlyn Roche banged out four of Elk River’s 12 hits as the Elks made their sixth straight win a lopsided one, 13-3 over Blaine at home on Monday.


Roche was 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs. Kayti Hanson was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. Dani Edwards and Cassi Opsahl were each 2-for-3 with an RBI.  Brittani Athey and Moriah Bruns were each 1-for-3 with an RBI.


Moriah Bruns pitcvhed two innings, giving up two runs, and Courtney Jensen got the win in relief, allowing one run in three innings. Each gave up four hits.


The Elks had no errors and Blaine had five.


Blaine’s Jessica Epp;enberger gave up seven runs in two innings, and Lauren Anderson six runs in two innings. Abby Veloske, Hannah Zurn and Jessica Nelson had two hits each.


The Elks are 12-4 overall and 9-3 in conference. Blaine is 3-7, 3-7.


The Elks will play at Coon Rapids on Wednesday.
