Golf: Buege shoots 66, Royals win another Miss. 8 meet

McCabe Buege shot a conference record 66 as the Rogers golfers won their fourth straight Mississippi 8 meet Thursday at Pebble Creek in Becker.

Rogers shot 296 to edge Buffalo’s season low 304.   Morgan Rask shot 75, Jordan Rykal 77, and Phil Ballard and Corey Muenzhuber at 78.

“Mac had a fun round to watch,” said coach Dan Bursheim. “He started by going par, bogey, par, bogey to be two over after four holes.  He then caught fire with an eagle and birdie combo and never looked back — finishing eight under par his final 14 holes.”

Buege’s personal-best high school score  may have been even lower if not for just missing a birdie putt on his 16th hole and leaving an eagle just off the left lip on the par 5 18th.

“The round has been building for a while and Mac has continued to work tirelessly on his short game,” said the coach.

Zimmerman places 7th

Zimmerman placed at Becker with a season-best 326.  Tommy Hannan shot 78, Jake Mcnulty 81, Derek Faulkner 83, and Corey Foyt 84.
