Softball: Jensen, Elks nip Andover 1-0

Elk River had 14 baserunners and only one made it home, but that was enough as Courtney Jensen threw a shutout and beat Andover 1-0 there Wednesday.

“We got our lone run in the second off an overthrow,” said coach Stacey Sheetz. “We left 13 runners stranded on base!”

Jensen allowed five hits and four walks, and struck out four as the Elks improved to 7-3 conference, 9-4 overall.

Hard-luck losing pitcher for Andover (3-6) was Maddie Bittner on  a seven-hitter and no earned runs.

Kayti Hanson had two of the Elks’ seven hits. Bittner had two of Andover’s five. The lone run was scored by Jenna Germscheid.

The Elks will host Andover on Thursday.
