Downtown parking lots are now city-owned

It’s official.
Two downtown parking lots that the city of Elk River was purchasing from Houlton Investment Co. are now under city ownership.
The City Council had voted last month to pay $225,000 for 68 parking spaces in two downtown lots to make sure they remained as public parking for downtown.The spaces are located directly behind the businesses on the south side of Main Street between Jackson and King avenues and next to River’s Edge Commons Park.
