The Mooseknuckle Brothers, a blues band based in Elk River, will be on the card for Famous Dave’s BBQ Blues Festival on Saturday, June 11.

They are slated to play at noon in the all-day event at Peavey Plaza in downtown Minneapolis. Music will be played until 10:30 p.m.

Shannon Libra of Crystal, lead vocalist and harmonica player, reports that they were one of four bands picked from 16 at a recent Sunday show at Famous Dave’s in Uptown.

“We’ve been together two years, and we all have day jobs,” said Libra. “This will open doors for us.”

The Mooseknuckle Brothers play some original music. One song that “brought the house down,” said Libra, is an original called “I’m So Happy I’ve Got the Blues.”

The band founders are Todd Ek of Elk River, who plays guitar and sings, and Allan Therres of Elk River, the drummer. Other members are Brian Olson (vocals, guitar) of Champlin, Terry Good (bass guitar) of Champlin, Ace Barton (sax) of Apple Valley and Rob Savage (keyboards) of Brooklyn Park.
