Youth Theatre Workshop’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’ starts Friday night

Youth Theatre Workshop’s “Sleeping Beauty” starts Friday night 7 p.m. at ERHS’s Little Theatre and will have 10 performances over two weekends. A colorful romp with grand costumes, multitudes of cute characters and some ambitious special effects and fight scenes. Emily Bowersox, a sophomore at a performing arts school in St. Paul and daughter of director Eileen Bowersox, plays Aurora, the sleeping beauty, and Carsen Fruend of Big Lake plays her prince. Katie Wolf, at 22 the only adult in the cast, plays the villain Maleficent. There’s about 40 kids in the cast. It continues Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m., next Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 7 and Sunday at 2 and 6.
