Teen cited for texting while driving

A 17-year-old boy was cited for texting while driving  at about 11 p.m. on April 25.

An officer spotted the driver while he was eastbound on School Street and crossing Highway 169.

The driver told the officer he was looking at a text he had just gotten from his girlfriend, and then he “closed it out” and put the phone on the center console, Kluntz said.

The driver showed the officer his text history, which showed he had been texting. He also received additional texts while the officer was speaking to him.

The driver was cited for Texting While Driving and warned for no driver’s license possession. He was mailed a parent notification letter.
