Reuben C. Christianson, 86, of Big Lake, died peacefully surrounded by his family at home Saturday, April 23, 2011.
He was a Merchant Marine during World War II. After the war, he farmed both dairy and crops and also had a milk route. After his farming days, Mr. Christianson worked at Hoffman Engineering, eventually retiring as an inspector.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, playing cards and traveling. He had a keen memory and a great sense of humor. He loved to use his machines to excavate on his property in his spare time.
Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, April 28 at Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Zimmerman. Interment was at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery, Big Lake. Dare’s Funeral Service in Elk River served the family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Caroline (Pelg); children, Michael, Marlys (Jerry) Petersen, Mark (Pam), Mel, and Mary (Danny) Lutz; 14 grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and sister Marvel Grams.
Mr. Christianson was preceded in death by sister Delores Person.
Memorials are preferred to Fairview Hospice.
