Dorothy M. Lemke, 90, Princeton, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at the Elim Care & Rehab Center, Princeton.
Mrs. Lemke was born March 30, 1921, in Elk River to Ernest and Minnie (Davis) Schwanbeck. She graduated from Elk River High School in 1939, attended business college in St. Cloud and then worked at Brown and Bigelow in St. Paul for a short time before beginning work at The Bank of Elk River as a bank teller.
She married Leo Lemke on Oct. 3, 1945, at Elk River. She continued her banking career after their children were born, retiring from The Bank of Elk River as an assistant vice president in 1990 and the couple moved to Princeton.
Mrs. Lemke enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and her gardening (flowers and bird watching). In her later years, she enjoyed reading and word puzzle books.
The funeral was held Wednesday, April 27 at Zion Lutheran Church of Crown. Burial was at the church cemetery. Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home of Princeton made the arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Joyce (Richard) Anderson of Ogilvie, Clyde (Terri) of Elk River, Harriette of St. Paul, and Dennis (Annette) of Coon Rapids; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Norman (Gwyneth) of Otsego and Clyde (Carol) of Blaine.
Mrs. Lemke was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, and two grandchildren.
