Golf: Royals boys 2nd in 20-team Brainerd meet

The Rogers Royals were second by two strokes in the 20=team Brainerd Invitational at The Preserve on Thursday. Moorhead won with 304. Rogers had 306 and Forest Lake and Owatonna each 309.

Sam Matthews of Roseville medaled with 67. For Rogers, McCabe Buege tied for second with 72 and Jordan Rykal tied for fifth with 74. Corey Muenzhuber shot 79 and Morgan Rask 81.

“The boys played solid but ran out of gas on the last several holes they each played,” said coach Dan Bursheim. “We will continue to work on fitness, diet, conditioning, mental approach and proper rest to avoid those mistakes in future meets.”

Rogers will compete in the Tri-State meet on Friday and Saturday.
