Dockter declines Elk River parks job
Zac Dockter, Elk River’s choice for parks and recreation director, has declined the position.
Elk River City Administrator Lori Johnson said Dockter chose to take a counter offer from Cottage Grove instead.
Dockter was offered the park and recreation director position at the city of Cottage Grove, Johnson said. Cottage Grove is his hometown and he has been the parks, recreation and ice arena manager there for the last 10 years
The Elk River City Council had voted 5-0 April 18 to offer the Elk River parks and recreation director job to Dockter. There were 113 applicants.
This is Elk River’s second attempt to fill the position, which has been vacant since Bill Maertz left in June. The city offered the job to another candidate in October, but she declined. That prompted the latest search which led to Dockter.
