Morgan Pierson scored a shorthanded goal for the game-winner as the Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman girls nipped the Blaine Bengals 10-9 in double overtime Monday evening in Blaine.
Pierson scored with 30 seconds left in the second OT, and had three goals and two assists for ERZ (3-1).
Kayla Mills made four assists while scoring once. Mackenzie Perna and Emily Antony added two goals each, and Becca Leshovsky and Jordan McLaughlin one each.
Blaine sent the game into OT with a goal with 1:30 left.
ERZ was one player short in both OT’s due to three yellow cards in the game.
Goalie Sam Geissler faced 27 shots and stopped 18. Leading the defensive effort were Rose Fredell, Kim Scott and Marissa Soppeland.
ERZ will host Coon Rapids on Wednesday.
