The Elk River softball team placed fifth in the Richfield Invitational on Saturday, losing 5-4 to the host team and then winning twice.
Three errors led to four unearned runs in the loss to Richfield. Moriah Bruns allowed six hits and five walks. Richfield’s Carley Klass gave up seven hits and one walk. For the Elks, Dani Edwards was 2-for-3 and Courtney Jensen and Kayti Hanson each had a hit and an RBI. Richfield’s Shelby Bunt had a double and two RBI and Bry Guyton was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI.
The Elks edged Duluth East 4-3 with Jensen pitching the distance, weathering 10 hits and two walks, striking out two. She was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Bethani Athey had a double and RBI and eighth-grader Ali Krohn was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Mostrom pitchede for Duluth. Dorrow had a double and two RBI.
The Elks (6-3) blanked Roseville 7-0 on a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts by Bruns, and just one walk. Michaela Bruns was 3-for-3 with a solo homer, double and three RBI. Kaitlyn Roche was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Moriah Bruns 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI, Jensen 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Athey 1-for-4 with an RBI.
The Elks will play at Centennial on Wednesday.
