Otsego spring clean-up planned for May

Spring clean-up around Otsego is scheduled for the week of May 2–7.
Residents will be able to go to city hall once again to pick up a voucher to get rid of unwanted items at a reduced cost — items landfills will not accept.
Metro Appliance Recycling is offering those reduced fees for the second year to Otsego residents for things like electronics, tires and air conditioners when residents redeem their voucher.
Items accepted at Metro Appliance during clean-up week and the accompanying fees are:
•Major appliances,          $10 each
•Air conditioners,              $15 each
•Fluorescent lights,                  45 cents to $1.35 each
•Televisions, electronics and computers including towers, monitors and printers,                                              30 cents per pound
•Tires with rims,                       $8 each
•Tires without rims,             $6 each
Auto batteries are free of charge for disposal.
Things not accepted are:
•Hazardous materials
•Household garbage
•Compost materials
Proof of residency is required and only one voucher per household is allowed.
Vouchers can be picked up from city hall beginning April 25.
Last year Otsego handed out 94 vouchers.
