Dickey’s Barbecue Pit opens in Hassan

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is Hassan and Rogers’ latest restaurant and offers something new for area residents.
Owner Jason Stewart opened the store that specializes in slow-cooked beef brisket and pulled pork March 1.
A new breed of fast food to the area, Dickey’s offers what Stewart calls “high quality food that is cooked slow and served fast.”
That high quality is one of the owner’s main concerns, he says, because he wants every customer to have a good experience at his restaurant.
Along with the beef brisket and pulled pork selections, Dickey’s offers six other barbecued meats and 11 side dishes to choose from. Customers can decide between three sauces, Dickey’s Original, Sweet and Hot & Spicy.
Entrees range from $3 sandwiches to an $11 rib platter. Drinks are separate, but customers can help themselves to free large dill pickles and soft serve ice cream.
Dickey’s also has a full catering service that includes office box lunches and a barbecue buffet.
Around holidays like Easter Stewart sells spiral-cut honey-glazed hams. For Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays he offers a Cajun-fried and a smoked turkey beside the ham choice.
Those who would like to try Dickey’s Barbecue might want to stop by the restaurant during its grand opening April 29.
Customers can get a one-pound pulled pork sandwich for $1 (limit two per person).
Some lucky winner will win 52 $10 vouchers for Dickey’s in a drawing. Other prizes include a $300 pair of glasses from The Spectacle Shoppe.
Radio station K102 will broadcast from Dickey’s in Hassan.
Stewart says 10 percent of that day’s sales will go to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund.
A native Canadian, the Dickey’s owner seems community minded, as seen in his restaurant’s involvement with a blood drive in May that includes getting people to sign up to be a bone marrow donor.
Also coming up Monday, May 2 at 7 p.m. at Dickey’s is a food-eating contest. The winner will go on to compete with the local winners from the other six metro Dickey’s locations. ESPN2 will be there at the Plymouth location to carry the competition.
Dickey’s in Hassan/Rogers is open every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
