Softball: Rogers thumps Zimmerman 17-7

The Rogers Royals collected 24 hits and defeated the Zimmerman Thunder 17-7 in five innings at home Thursday.

Courtney Rienertz was 3-for-5 with a double and five RBI. Socking three hits each were Maddie Anderson, Christina Hajder, Paige Madison and Lauren Jordan.

Hajder also pitched the distance for the Royals (2-2), striking out seven.

Zimmerman dropped to 0-6 but at least had their first big inning of the year, scoring seven in the third inning on singles by Gabby Antolak, Madison Kimbrough, Kaitlyn Bauer, Brooke Inman, and Ashley Ryding, and three Rogers errors. The Thunder pitcher was Avery Klopp.

On Monday, Monticello will play at Rogers, and Zimmerman at Big Lake.
