Softball: Elks erratic in 10-2 loss to Pirates
Elk River made six errors and lost to the Park Center Pirates 10-2 on Thursday at Park Center.
Park Center had 11 hits, while the Elks (4-2) couldn’t get much going against Nicole Tade. The Pirate pitcher gave up six hits and four walks while striking out eight.
The Elks trailed 3-2 after five, but made four of their six errors in the sixth as Park Center scored seven runs.
Elks all-conference shortstop Kayti Hanson missed the game with an injury from practice Wednesday. She is tentative to play Saturday at the Richfield tournament, said coach Stacey Sheetz.
Kaitlyn Roche was 3-for-4 and Kathy Opsahl 2-for-3 for the Elks, each driving home a run.
Katie Fern was 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs for the Pirates. Dani Brown was 2-for-3 with three runs and Abby McDermott 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Moriah Bruns took the loss, giving up seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and five walks, in five innings. Courtney Jensen gave up three runs in the sixth in three hits and a walk.
The Elks will play at Centennial on Wednesday.
