Softball: Elks thump Armstrong 18-4

Kaitlyn Roche banged out five hits to lead Elk River in an 18-4 rout of Armstrong on Monday in Robbinsdale.

 

Roche was 5-for-5 with four runs and three RBI. She had a double and four singles.

 

Kathy Opsahl knocked in four runs, going 2-for-5 with two doubles.

 

Kayti Hanson was 3-for-4 (two runs, RBI), Michaela Bruns 2-for-3 (two RBI), Moriah Bruns 2-for-5 (double, two runs, two RBI), and Bethani Athey 2-for-5 (double, RBI).

 

Moriah Bruns pitched the distance, giving up seven hits and four walks, striking out six.

 

The Elks are 4-1, all in conference games. They are scheduled to host Anoka on Wednesday.
