Rogers had the top three shooters in winning the Mississippi 8 boys golf opener at Monticello on Monday.
Meanwhile, Zimmerman made its conference debut with a sixth-place finish among nine teams.
Corey Muenzhuber with 73, McCabe Buege with 74 and Jordan Rykal with 75 finished 1-2-3 as defending champion Rogers totaled 299. Morgan Rask scored 77, Zach Hnath 79 and Andy Suedbeck 87.
“The boys played really well in the cooling wind,” said coach Dan Bursheim.
Muenhuber was 3 over after 4 holes when he doubled the par 5 4th. He made a tough downhill putt on 5 from 35 feet to birdie. On 9 he did the same thing but this time from the first cut to get another stroke back.
Buege was plus 1 through 12 and then caught some bad luck in bogeying 13, 14, and 15, said Bursheim. He just missed an eagle putt on 18 and tapped in for birdie.
Rykal was left in the trees on 4, 9 and 18 and made great shots to have birdie opportunities. His putting was on target but just lipped out on several chances to lower his score even more.
Becker, Buffalo and Cambridge-Isanti tied for second with 333, followed by St. Michael-Albertville 335, Zimmerman 339, Monticello 340, Princeton 379 and Big Lake 382.
Zimmerman, a first-year team, placed fifth of nine in its conference debut. Counting scores were Brian Barbeln with 82, Jake McNulty with 83, Corey Foyt with 86 and Tommy Hannan with 88.
