Opinion: Mission accomplished for CAER
As CAER’s annual March Campaign Drive drew to a close, I was again amazed by the generous and caring spirit of this community. Not only did we reach our goal — we surpassed it!! An amazing 128,320 pounds/dollars was raised!
Words cannot express the gratitude to all of you who participated in making this possible. You may have contributed through your church, school or business. You may have held a drive, responded to our appeal letter, or sponsored a fund raiser.
However you participated, every single dollar and every single pound contributed to the success of our campaign and our vision that “Hunger is no longer a barrier to the health and well-being of people in our community.”
The dollars and pounds of food raised will go to work right in our community to serve our neighbors in need. With so many Minnesotans (including children) facing food insecurity and not knowing where their next meal will come from, the response from this community carries a clear message: We do not want anyone to suffer from hunger here!
With the economy difficult for all of us, and our budgets tighter than ever, reaching into our pockets to donate is not always easy, but this community pulled together, reached a little deeper and did what they could to ensure that food is reaching the cupboards of our hungry neighbors.
Thank you for your donations. Thank you for again amazing me with your gifts that prove that this is a community we should all be proud of and feel fortunate to be a part of. In this community — Missions are not Impossible, we take them on, and we triumph. — Jenny Gray, CAER’s executive director
