Golf: Rogers boys 4th among 32 at CR Invitational
The Rogers golfers, coming off last year’s state second-place finish, tied for fourth place in the 31-team Coon Rapids Invitational in miserable conditions Thursday.
Eastview shot 307, Forest Lake 311, Anoka 315, and Rogers and Osseo 316 to lead the field at Bunker Hills.
McCabe Buege tied for third place with 76, behind Eastview’s Max Thyke with 72 and Osseo’s Dalton Charboneau with 74.
Corey Muenzhuber shot 79, Morgan Rask 80, Andy Suedbeck 80, Jordan Rykal 81 and Phil Ballard 82 for the Royals.
“The conditions were pretty tough with 35 degree weather at the start and strong, steady winds all day,” said coach Dan Bursheim. “Mac struggled with his putting and tried the unconventional 2 glove grip for part of the round. The other guys all had similar situations: grind out a few holes and then make a mistake.”
Rogers will have three conference meets next week, starting with Monday at Monticello.
