District to seek input for planning

The Elk River Area School District wants feedback from community members and has decided to host what it has termed three Community Café conversations.

The school district is in the initial process of updating its strategic plan, and the Community Café conversations have been designed to serve as a beginning step to formulating the district’s dreams and possibilities for its learners.

“Behind every successful organization is a carefully designed road map to the future,” Superintendent Mark Bezek stated.

District officials hope to get diverse perspectives and the collective wisdom from the entire community. What they fear is low turnout.

They have decided to provide food and refreshments, and, if needed, free child care.

“We hope you will join us on this exciting journey,” Bezek said.

The Community Café meetings will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the following dates and locations:

•Tuesday, May 3, Handke Center, 1170 Main St., Elk River
•Wednesday, May 11, Hassan Elementary School, 14055 Orchid Ave., Rogers
•Thursday, May 18, Westwood Elementary School, 13651 Fourth Ave. S., Zimmerman

For logistical (seating, food, child-care) purposes, we ask that you RSVP no later than April 25, 2011. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask by calling us at 763-241-3419 or by e-mail at [email protected]
