Pub owner thanks council for buying parking lots

Fred McCoy made a special trip to the Elk River City Council meeting April 11 to say thanks.
McCoy, owner of McCoy’s Pub in downtown Elk River, thanked the council for buying the upper and lower parking lots by Rivers Edge Commons Park and behind some Main Street businesses.
“Personally for me and  … a lot of other business people, your move to buy the parking area down by the river from the bank, thumbs up,” he said. “We think it can be a great asset to downtown and for the city itself.”
The city is buying 68 parking spaces in two downtown lots for $225,000 from Houlton Investment Co. to ensure they would remain as public parking for downtown.
