Elk River banged out three home runs and defeated the Blaine Bengals 10-7 in Blaine on Wednesday.
Bethani Athey was 3-for-4 with a solo homer in the third inning, Moriah Bruns 2-for-4 with a solo homer in the fifth, and Michaela Bruns was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in the seventh inning.
Athey and both Bruns sisters scored two runs each. Courtney Jensen was 2-for-4 and Sidney Schwindel 1-for-1, each with a double and a run scored.
Blaine had two homers — a two-run shot by Hannah Zora and a solo by Jessica Nelson. Abbey Nelson was 3-for-5 with three runs.
The Bengals had 18 hits off Moriah Bruns but the senior righthander went the distance for the win, with four strikeouts and four walks.
The Elk (2-1) had 14 hits and just two strikeouts off Lauren Anderson.
Moriah Bruns pitched the distance, giving up 18 hits and four walks. Five runs were earned.
The Elks will host Coon Rapids on Thursday in their first home game.
