Baseball: Magic rally in 7th, beat Thunder 8-6
The Monticello Magic scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning and beat the Zimmerman Thunder 8-6 on Tuesday in Zimmerman.
Two of Zimmerman’s three errors came in the seventh and were costly, said coach Matt Kraus.
Matt McNeil hit a three-run homer in the third inning for Monticello while Jake Schmitz was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Jacob Frederick got the win in relief, allowing two runs (unearned) in three innings, striking out six.
Kyle Connelly pitched 6 2/3 innings for Zimmerman, allowing eight runs (seven earned) and 11 hits, striking out nine.
Kam Crandall was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, Connelly 2-for-4 (RBI) and Joe Neilson 2-for-4 with a double.
Zimmerman (0-2) will play at Becker on Thursday.
