Softball: Sadler, Crimson top Elks 3-0
Maple Grove righthander Cayl Sadler held Elk River to one hit as the Crimson beat the Elks 3-0 on Monday in Maple Grove.
Sadler struck out 12 batters and walked just one in Maple Grove’s opener.
Moriah Bruns gave up just five hits and a walk and had just one bad inning. In the fourth, Brianna Besel ripped a two-run double and scored on a squeeze bunt for a 3-0 lead.
Bethani Athey had the lone hit for the Elks (1-1). Maple Grove’s Sarah Dominicak was 2-for-2.
The Elks will play at Blaine on Wednesday.
