Softball: Hajder leads Royals’ rout of Tech in opener 16-6

The Rogers Royals belted out 20 hits, five of them by pitcher Christina Hajder, and defeated St. Cloud Tech 16-6 in their opener on Thursday.

“Good first game for us,” said coach Dan Ohlgren. “We got some of the jitters out of the way, making three errors … The only problem was we made all those errors in one inning which led to their six runs. All the girls swung the bat very well.”

Hajder pitched the distance, allowing six hits and two earned runs, and striking out 10. At the plate she was 5-for-6 with two doubles and four RBI.

Jess Owens and Leah Perrault also had three hits each.

Rogers will play at Buffalo on Monday.
