College athletes: Schutt started in goal for D-I Sacred Heart (NY)
Alexius Schutt of Elk River was the starting goalie for Sacred Heart University’s hockey team of Fairfield, CT, as a freshman, with a 4.42 goals-against, .890 save percentage, three shutouts and an 8-16 record. Her 871 saves ranked fifth in the nation. Sacred Heart plays Division I in the Independent League.Schutt was the left-fielder on ERHS’s state softball championship team in 2009 and played hockey for the Minnesota Thoroughbreds.
Morgan Lynch of Elk River finished her freshman season on the North Dakota swimming team with personal-bests in the 500 freestyle (5:00.94), 1000 (10:31.56) and 1650 (17:24.82) at the Conference USA meet in Houston. She placed 12th in the 500 and 14th in the 1650. Her 1650 time ranks second in UND history and her 500 time ranks third.
Aaron Daugherty, freshman from Elk River, has made the baseball team at UM-Duluth as catcher.
Tempestt Wilson, sophomore guard from Elk River on the South Dakota basketball team, averaged 8.4 points an 2.6 rebounds, notching 48 three-point shots and 41 assists. The Coyotes were 20-12.
