Mervin S. Hauge, 78, of Clear Lake, formerly of Big Lake and Edina, died Tuesday March 15, 2011, at St. Benedict’s Senior Community of St. Cloud following a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 11, 1932, in Albert Lea to Ole T. and Anne (Jacobson) Hauge. He served four years in the US Navy, and married Joyce Johnson in Minneapolis on Nov. 4, 1955. For many years the couple lived in Edina and Mr. Hauge owned and operated Hanson Auto Parts in Eden Prairie with his brother-in-law Arlyn Hanson.
In 1979 they moved to Big Lake, and he worked for All Tool of Elk River. They have made their home in Clear Lake since 1995.
A memorial service will be today (Saturday, March 19) at 2 p.m. at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, 250 East Broadway, Monticello, officiated by the Rev. Jeff Sackett. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral chapel. There will be a private interment. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Mr. Hauge is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce; sons, Mitchell (Terri) of Edina, and Martin (Susan) of Bloomington; daughter, Angela (Brad) Thomas of Big Lake; seven grandchildren; sister, Ardella Alberico; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Hanson and Luella Hauge.
