Jens F. Jensen, 87, of Rogers, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House.
He was born in Dagmar, Montana on October 25, 1923. Soon after he moved to Askov, Minn., and lived on his family farm until 1942.
Jens served in the Army Air Force in the O.S.S. from 1942-1945 during WWII.
He met his wife Audrey in Bristol, England during the war. The couple was married in November of 1946 at Wooddale Lutheran Church, in St. Louis Park.
Most of his life, Jens worked as a union painter and decorator until he retired. In 1973, Jens and his family moved to Colorado. The family moved back to Minnesota in 2001. Jens enjoyed music, being involved with his church choir, gardening, birds, and taking trips to England.
The funeral service was held on Monday, March 7, at The Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers. Pastor Rick Skare officiated. Interment was at The Word of Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home served the family.
Jens is survived by his wife, Audrey (Thorne) Jensen; son, Stephen (Dawn) Jensen; daughters, Elaine (Steve) Asmussen, Diane Kadlac and Karen (Randy) Treihaft; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Peter Jensen; sister, Marie Dietz and step-sister Marie Juhl.
Mr. Jensen was preceded in death by his parents, Einar and Ellen Jensen and his son-in law, Tom Kadlac.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Heartland Hospice Care and Quiet Oaks Hospice House or to The Word of Peace Lutheran Church.
