Phillip Ballard scored in overtime to send Rogers into the section final with a 3-2 win over Proctor at home on Saturday evening.
Ballard, a senior forward, got the game-winner 5:00 into the extra session on a power play after a Rail player was called for slashing. Assisting were Andrew Smith and Nick Polsfuss.
The No 2 seeded Royals (16-8-1) will take on defending champion and top-seeded Hermantown (20-3-2) in the finals Friday evening at Champlin Ice Forum.
This marks the first time Rogers has played in a section title game.
Zach Hnath delivered the first two goals for Rogers. The junior forward scored at 14:24 of the first period, assisted by Polsfuss, for a 1-0 lead, and again at 6:40 of the second period, on a power play, for a 2-1 lead, assisted by Jake Einarson.
Jesse Scanon pulled Proctor (16-7-2) into a tie game twice, in the second period at 4:07 and in the third period at 5:47.
Rogers killed off all seven Proctor power plays while gong 2-for-8 themselves. The Royals had a slight 32-28 edge in shots.
Robby Vukelich in goal for Rogers stopped 26 of 28 shots while Proctor’s Brody Morin stopped 29 of 32.
Hermantown is ranked No. 2 in Class A behind St. Thomas Acadamy. The Hawks drubbed St. Cloud Cathedral 7-1 in the other semifinal game.
