Schroeder Studio show will include tribute to mentor’s 50 years teaching art

Twenty-five members of Schroeder Studio of Elk River are displying their paintings at the Arts Alliance Gallery from this past Wednesday through March 5.

This year’s annual show will include recognition of the studio’s instructor, Harvey Schroeder, for 50 years of teaching art in the Elk River area. Schroeder arrived in 1961  to teach art in District 728. He has taught hundreds of adults along the way and continues to do so in retirement at his studio. Schroeder and studio members also have a Tuesday class for  Guardian Angls residents.

The reception to meet the artists will be held Saturday, March 5, from 2 to 5 p.m. A brief recognition of the teacheer will be held at 3 p.m.

The artists displaying up to three paintings each are Joan Ruprecht, Sue Ballweber, Linda Croteau, Terry McFarland, Laura Heller, Joanne Gordon, Vicki Sackmeister, Bruce Strand, Chris Miller, Jane Gauker, Areona Cook, John Heckman, Roxanne Current, Mark Haglund, Sondra Schroeder-Davis, Frieda Bruck, Jane Hilliard, Sandy Shelton, Cindy McDonnell, Pat Baysinger, Nancy Gongoll, Mary Olson, Jessica Henry Davis, Ceci Shapland, and Rose Moeckel.

The gallery at 716 Main Street in Elk River is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
