Basketball: Royal girls lose to Tigers 47-40 in M8 finale

The Rogers Royals lost their regular-season finale to the Princeton Tigers 47-40 on Friday evening.

The Royals, who beat Princeton 56-44 earlier in the year, finished 6-10 in the Mississippi 8, tying for fifth place.

“An off-night shooting dashed our hopes,” said coach  Jeremy Digiovanni. “We were an ice cold 25 percent from the floor against Princeton.”

The much taller Tigers also outrebounded the Royals decisively.

Rogers will take a 12-14 overall record into Section 5AA starting Tuesday. The Royals were seeded second and will host No. 7 Dassel-Cokato.

Mariah Clarin tallied 16 points and Kadie Savage and Becca Haas 13 each for Princeton, 5-11 in conference and 10-15 overall.

Emily Reichert and Jordyn Motter sank 11 points each for Rogers.
