Benjamin Carl Wallace (Stary), 30, of Zinnowitz, Germany, formerly of Elk River, died peacefully surrounded by his father, mother, and sisters in Germany Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, of complications from MRSA while recovering from injuries experienced on Dec 18.
He was born in Robbinsdale on Sept. 22, 1980, to Ben (Benny) and Linda J. Wallace. He was a 1999 graduate of the Alliance Christian Academy in Elk River, where he had many friends and enjoyed sports, especially wrestling. He was a St. Cloud State graduate.
He was married and moved to Germany on July 5, 2010, where he planned to teach English as a Second Language.
His family says, “He is remembered for his sense of humor, slow laid-back pace, and big kind heart. He spent a number of years working with special needs adults whom he always loved with great energy and compassion.”
Services will be at River Of Life Evangelical Free Church, 21695 Elk Lake Road N.W., Elk River; 763-441-7527. Visitation will be from 3:30–8:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20 and his funeral service on Monday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by Dare’s Funeral Home of Elk River. Memorials are preferred.
He is survived by his wife, parents; sisters, Amanda and Annie; grandparents, Bennett Sr. and Judy Wallace, and Walter and Audrey Griese; great-grandfather Clair Lemke; uncle, aunt and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael; and cousin, Brenna Wallace.
