Basketball: Royal boys repel Monticello 77-67
With five double-digit scorers, the Rogers Royals held off the Monticello Magic 77-67 on Thursday evening at Monticello.
R.J. Dean and Michael Schreiber netted 16 points each, Josh Turnquist 15 off the bench, Trevor Morlock 12 and Rory Donvan 12.
Dean was 6-for-6 and Turnquist 4-for-4 at the line as the Royals went 20-for-29.
Rogers led by as much as 19 in the second half but Monticello made seven 3-pointers in the second half and got as close as seven.
Rogers is 9-4 in conference for third place and 14-7 overall.
Kevin Flesch sank 14 points, David Sell 11, Anthony Saavedra 11, and Bryce Balfanz 10 for Monticello (4-8 conference, 7-15 overall).
Rogers will host St. Cloud Apollo, ranked No. 5 in Class 3A, on Saturday, 7 p.m.
